LOG
The Laboratory of Oncogenetics (LOG) is dedicated to the investigation and diagnosis of hereditary malignant tumors. The research division is primarily engaged in clinically oriented research, encompassing:
- Determination of the spectrum of cancer predisposition in the Czech population
- Identification of novel cancer predisposition genes
- Characterization of variants of uncertain significance
- Analysis of germline variants affecting pre-mRNA splicing
- Characterization of polygenic risk and calculation of PRS in
- Identification of phenotypic characteristics in carriers of inherited pathogenic variants in cancer predisposition genes
- Bioinformatic and pharmacogenomic analyses
The diagnostic division of the Laboratory of Oncogenetics (LOG) offers analysis of cancer predisposition in high-risk individuals using panel sequencing/WES of genomic DNA/leukocyte RNA and interpretation of genetic findings.
The LOG staff leads the CZECANCA consortium of Czech oncogenetics laboratories and the Oncogenetics Working Group of the Czech Society of Medical Genetics and Genomics. The latter serves as an expert national platform for the development, actualization, and harmonization of national recommendations for the care of carriers of pathogenic variants in cancer predisposition genes.
The LOG actively cooperates with the international consortia, including ENIGMA, CIMBA, BCAC, OCAC, PALB2-interest group.
